Lemongrass and Lowering Cholesterol
From the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Cholesterol is a fatty and waxy deposits found in our body.
Our body do need some amount of cholesterol to make hormones, vitamin D, and substances that help you digest foods. However, we nowadays tend to over indulge in food and eat way too much cholesterol.
There are two type of cholesterol - LDL (bad) and HDL (good). The bad LDL will cause buildup in arteries, causing heart disease. Good HDL carries cholesterol from other parts of your body back to your liver. Your liver removes the cholesterol from your body.
Over time, plaque hardens and narrows your coronary arteries. This limits the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart.
Eventually, an area of plaque can rupture (break open). This causes a blood clot to form on the surface of the plaque. If the clot becomes large enough, it can mostly or completely block blood flow through a coronary artery.
If the flow of oxygen-rich blood to your heart muscle is reduced or blocked, angina (an-JI-nuh or AN-juh-nuh) or a heart attack may occur.
Angina is chest pain or discomfort. It may feel like pressure or squeezing in your chest. The pain also may occur in your shoulders, arms, neck, jaw, or back. Angina pain may even feel like indigestion.
A heart attack occurs if the flow of oxygen-rich blood to a section of heart muscle is cut off. If blood flow isn’t restored quickly, the section of heart muscle begins to die. Without quick treatment, a heart attack can lead to serious problems or death.
Plaque also can build up in other arteries in your body, such as the arteries that bring oxygen-rich blood to your brain and limbs. This can lead to problems such as carotid artery disease, stroke, and peripheral arterial disease (P.A.D.).
There has been researches done on using Lemongrass to reduce high cholesterol. One such research is done by researchers at the University of Wisconsin's Department of Nutritional Sciences in 1989.
They investigated the link between lemongrass and cholesterol. The research team published its findings -- a significant decrease in cholesterol levels in test subjects who took lemongrass oil capsules daily over a three-month period -- in the August 1989 issue of the medical journal "Lipids."

What Is High Blood Cholesterol?

Can one be allergic to Essential Oils?
1. Sensitivities to Essential
Oils
by David Stewart, PhD, DNM
There are a couple of ways one can be sensitive to essential oils, but an
allergic reaction is not one of them. Allergies are erroneous immune
responses to proteins, peptides, and amino acids - all nitrogen compounds,
none of which are found in essential oils.
You can have an allergic reaction to a vegetable oil such as olive, corn,
peanut, walnut, almond, etc., since these are cold pressed and can contain
small amounts of proteins. For example, occasionally a person can develop an
allergy to an oil blend such as Valor, which is sold by Young Living. The
allergy is not due to the essential oils of spruce, frankincense, rosewood,
and blue tansy in the blend. It is due to the almond oil in the blend. So
read your labels. What may appear to be an allergic reaction to a blend of
essential oils may be due to a carrier oil contained in the blend.
You can also have an allergic reaction to citrus oils which are cold pressed
from the rind. However, while we refer to citrus oils such as orange, lemon,
lime, and grapefruit as "essential oils," strictly speaking they are not. By
definition, a true essential oil must be steam distilled, not expressed.
There are also oils extracted by solvents such as onycha, jasmine, and
neroli. Strictly speaking, they too are not true essential oils. Technically,
they should be called absolutes, not essential oils. One can have a true
allergic reaction to these because, like the citrus oils, they have not passed
through a distillation process and can contain traces of proteins, peptides, or
amino acids.
Because of the nature of distillation by heat, steam, and water, that true
essential oils must undergo, they do not contain the necessary compounds to
trigger allergies because these compounds do not pass through the distillation
process.
Hence, sensitivities to essential oils, in the sense of allergic reactions,
are not possible. Allergic sensitivities are due to the body developing
antibodies in response to certain nitrogenous molecules. No one has ever
found antibodies in humans from essential oils. So if one has a reaction
to an essential oil, it is something else. Not an allergy.

My EO Journey with my family.
When i first used them for my cough, hubby was sceptical and thought i should be taking cough mixture and antibiotics. My personal conviction and the peace of God led me to use YL EOs.
For the 1st 2 weeks of using, hubby refused to sleep in our room cos he said the smell is so yucky. But i persevered. Anyhow i recovered from my persistent cough. Mind you it was not ...easy. Unlike medication that gives you instant relief within a day, i had to use the oils for a almost a week. You see the oils work to bring back balance to my sick body instead of just treating the symptoms.
Next i worked on my teenage and young adult children. My youngest son was the most obliging and he allowed me to "experiment" on him. My daughter was sceptical and not too convinced. My older son only allowed me to use on him because he wants a knows he can get a massage. Now i tell my children when they are not well, go consult a doc and ask him for his diagnosis but don't take the medication. I will then refer to my EO reference book and Onedrop community for oils to use.
Almost 4 months into using the oils, my hubby could not be persuaded. But i got a tip off from a wellness consultant. Do the Rain Drop Therapy on your hubby. 10 out of 10 men will enjoy it and that's how you can get him started.
Aha my chance came, when hubby was down with flu just 2 days ago. I offered to massage him using my oils. Throughout the session, he did not complain about the pungent-ness of the oils. In fact i can tell that he enjoyed it. I did it again on him a few hours later. Hurray, he didn't even take a single fedac ( which he used to )!
Thank You Jesus for leading us back to nature's solution to bring back homeostasis and live the abundant life.

Cheap, painless and natural way of getting rid of skin tags
7 years ago, had lots of skin tag around my eye area after the birth of my first son. Went to a dermatologist, spent $500 plus for a 15 mins laser procedure to laser them off. Painful and scary experience.
In 2013, the skin tags came bac...k after the birth of my second son. Decided to use Young living Frankinscence to remove them. Sucessfully removed two small ones near the top of my cheekbone.
Decided to be more adventurous and go for the one nearer to my eye. After about 3 weeks. It dropped off. When you work with the oils. You have got to believe and be patient. Painless and most important - NATURAL.

Buzz off fever and block nose
Felicia (30 Oct 2013)
Successfully fought fever+blocked nose with Thieves, peppermint, lavender and R.C. And only in 4 hours!
Son (2 yo) developed fever last night. First measurement was 38.3
Quickly layered thieves, lavender and peppermint on soles every 15 minutes for 1 hour. Fever down to 37.9 but stayed there.
...
Decided to layer the oils on spine instead. So alternate spine and sole application with the three oils every 15 minutes. Fever down to 37.5 after about 2 hours.

But son complained of burnt feeling on spine. So I diluted with grapeseed oil. No complains for application on soles.
Two more applications after that (every half hour) and fever was off! 36.8
Son couldn't sleep well due to blocked nose. Applied R.C on my palm and let him inhale. Also applied on chest and back. 2 applications and nose block cleared a little (still can hear mucus noise. But he need not breathe through mouth).
Slept through and no fever till morning Will continue applying oils though less frequent today.
Thank God!
Happy Sunday all

Great Oils
Sherryl (Nov 17 2013)
Wanted to share this.
Last Thursday, I'm down with stomach flu, so I applied peppermint and lavender quite often in a day amazingly on Sat, I don't feel nausea or having any bloated tummy at all! Something much more amazingly was that my son was down with fever and bad runny nose on Fri, so I applied thieves, peppermint, lavender and Rc oil for him so came Sat, totally no more runny nose and fever as well. Great oils!!!
